A family was displaced in a fire in White Township Thursday evening.
Indiana County 911 reported the initial call went out at 5:03 PM to the home of John Green at 116 Fulton Lane. Creekside, Indiana companies 3 and 4, Marion Center and Elderton Firefighters along with the RIG team and Citizens Ambulance were dispatched. Creekside Fire Chief Pete Yacavone said that the fire started in the living room area, and spread through out the house. The two-story home was fully involved by the time crews arrived on the scene. Yacavone said that an excavator had to be brought in to tear down the back half of the house so the fire could be put out.
No one was home at the time of the fire. The Green family was taking a walk, but they were not too far away from their home when they saw the fire. Yacavone believes the fire is not suspicious in nature, and believes the cause may have been electrical in nature. The Red Cross and Green’s employer are helping the family out.
