Arthur R. “Bob” Barris, Jr., 82, of Indiana, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017, at Indiana Regional Medical Center.
A son of the late Arthur R. Barris, Sr. and Theresa Poletto Barris, he was born Sept. 9, 1935, in Yankeetown.
Mr. Barris was a graduate of Indiana High School and served in the U.S. Navy during Peacetime from Dec. 7, 1955 to Sept. 3, 1957. Bob was retired from Beck’s Machine Shop. He was a member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church and the American Legion 141. Bob enjoyed playing golf, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by four children: Arthur A. Barris and wife Marie, of Indiana; John M. Barris and wife Beth, of Homer City; Don J. Barris and wife Melissa, of Indiana; and Mark A. Barris and wife Rachel, of Ernest; a brother, Dennis Barris and wife Debbie, of Harrisburg; two sisters: Ruth Day, of Harrisburg and Betty Crumrine and husband Jim, of Greencastle; six grandchildren: Savannah Tutko and husband Mike; James, Dakota, Nicholas, Andrew and Gabriella; two greatgrandchildren: Jaxon and Reese Tutko; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty J. “Dolly” Kobak Barris.
Friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Robinson-Lytle, Inc. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
The observance of military honors will be accorded by the members of the V.F.W. Post 1989.
