At Wednesday’s County Commissioners Meeting, the Commissioners approved a resolution giving their approval to the executive summary for the Regional Transportation Alliance.
Indiana is part of a ten-county region trying to improve transportation between the counties, whether that be on highways and roads, or hiking and biking trails. They’ve identified seven principles for a better transportation future:
- Optimize existing assets
- Prioritize connections to jobs and education
- Embrace new operating models
- Make flexibile future-proof investments
- Adopt best management practices
- Support multiple mobility options
- Operate as an integrated system
Carly Dobbins-Bucklad, the project manager with the Regional Transportation Alliance, said that the next steps are to focus on the projects themselves.

In other business, the Commissioners approved a new 27-month contract with the AFSCME employees working at the Communities at Indian Haven. The contract does include modifications in health care programs in line with other union agreements, and increases in salary over the length of the contract.
The board also offered a congratulatory proclamation to the Cookport Fair on their 100th anniversary.
