Today marks the 16th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, The Pentagon in Washington, DC and a supposed attack that was diverted to a field near Shanksville, PA. Indiana will have two tribute ceremonies today.
First, IUP will hold memorial ceremonies this morning in the Oak Grove near the 9/11 memorial starting at 8:30 this morning. The program will feature speeches from IUP President Michael Driscoll and Board of Trustees Student Member Caleb King, and will pay tribute to three IUP Alumni who perished in the attacks at the World Trade Center in New York: Donald Jones, William Moskal and William Sugra. The event will also include a moment of silence at 8:46 AM, the time the first plane hit the World Trade Center.
A second ceremony will be held at noon today on the steps of the Indiana County Courthouse. This effort is being organized by Indiana County Commissioner Mike Baker and Sheriff Bob Fyock. We’ll have those ceremonies today starting at Noon on WCCS and streaming live on our Facebook page.
