This morning, 9/11 tribute ceremonies were held in the Oak Grove on IUP’s campus, near the 9/11 memorial.
The main speaker for this morning’s tribute was Michael Hood, the Dean of the Fine Arts Department at IUP, and also a military veteran, having served in the US Navy in the mid 1960’s. He expressed that while there is still a need to be vigilant, there is also a need for acceptance and understanding.
In his remarks, IUP president Dr. Michael Driscoll encouraged others to make the day count through public service.
While this year commemorates the 16th anniversary of the attacks on New York City, Washington DC and the crash of Flight 93 in Shanksville, IUP will continue it’s promise to never forget the events of that day.
