More details are available on a fatal car crash that happened Saturday night in Saint Clair Township in Westmoreland County.
Westmoreland County Coroner Kenneth Bacha announced in a news release that 27-Year-old Sean Rummel of Bolivar was the driver and only occupant in a car that was going north on Route 711 near the former Laurel Valley High School just outside of New Florence around 7:00 PM on Saturday. For an unknown reason, the car went off the east side of the road and hit a tree. The force of the impact partially ejected Rummel, who was not wearing his seat belt. Rummel was declared dead at the scene by deputy coroner John Ackerman.
Shortly after that accident, an ambulance that was en route to the scene was involved in a hit-and-run crash. No one was reportedly injured in that crash, and few details are available on the hit-and-run.
Coroner Bacha said the cause of death was multiple blunt-force injuries and has ruled it accidental.
