With deadlines approaching for court appearances in several criminal homicide cases, attorneys have asked for more time to prepare their cases.
Charles Cook, a transient who is accused of killing 76-year-old Myrtle McGill at her South 6th Street home in Indiana in 1991, has been granted an extension of his Criminal Call appearance from this coming Friday to October 6th. The same extension to October 6th has been granted for Matthew McNevin of Rayne Township, who is charged with the fatal shooting of Carlos Recalde-Campos and the wounding of Samantha Riley during the IUPattys event on March 25th in Indiana.
Judge Thomas Bianco has also issued rulings in the homicide cases against Nathan Price and Justin Stevenson, who are charged with the beating deaths of a couple at their Cherryhill Township apartment last October. Price’s attorney asked for an extension of time from last Friday to this Friday for the filing of pretrial motions. The judge kept intact the September 13th date for oral arguments on those motions. He also will hear arguments that day on the omnibus pretrial motions filed by Stevenson’s attorney last Friday.
