The Cambria County War Memorial arena has a new name.
At an event on Tuesday, officials with The Cambria County War Memorial and First Summit Bank have announced that a 10-year naming rights deal has been finalized, and the arena will now be known as “First Summit Arena at Cambria County War Memorial”. This comes on the heels of the arena being the recipient of the first ever “Hockeyville” award from Kraft Foods, which allowed them to do some much-needed renovations to the arena.
One of the sticking points of the agreement was keeping the “War Memorial” name front and center as an ongoing effort to honor veterans from the area. In a media release, it was stated that “It is a common belief amongst all entities involved that the ‘War Memorial’ remains committed to honoring those who have served for our country.”
The new branding will be featured on signs outside the arena and the new digital scoreboard above the ice, along with other promotional materials. The First Summit arena at Cambria County War Memorial will continue to be the home of the Johnstown Tomahawks, the UPJ Ice Cats and several youth hockey teams, and it will host several concerts, family events and trade shows.
