While the school year for IUP starts this weekend, work is continuing on Miller Stadium, and there’s been a change in plans for the stadium renovations.
Over the summer months, crews have been working on a second round of improvements to Miller Stadium, including installation of a new track surface, the construction of new “toilet room facility buildings”, replacement of the visitor’s side bleachers, and a home-side wheelchair accessible seating platform. One portion of the project did hit a snag, and that was with the visitor’s side bleachers. Mike Brown, the Associate Vice President of Buildings and Mangement with IUP said the problem was with the materials provided for the visitor’s grandstands not being up to specifications.
Brown said that for this year, temporary bleachers will be set up on the visitor’s side, and the visitor’s side bleachers will be worked on during the off-season.
