Later this week, IUP students will begin to move into dorms on-campus and apartments off-campus. The university will also have several events related to the opening of the school year, including the ribbon cutting on an on-campus dining facility.
New students are scheduled to start moving in on Thursday, August 24th, and that will run to the 26th, and returning students will move in on August 27th. On Friday, August 25th, IUP President Dr. Michael Driscoll will preside over the Opening of the 2017-2018 academic year from Fisher Auditorium in the IUP Performing Arts Center. Those ceremonies get underway at 9:00 and are open to the public.
After the ceremonies at Fisher Auditorium, there will be a ribbon cutting on IUP’s newest dining hall, the North Dining Facility at 10:00. The North Dining facility is next to the Hadley Union Building and the Northern Suites, and includes a global cuisine station that will feature a sushi station, a tandoori oven for Indian cuisine and stations for traditional oriental and brazilian foods; an open pit grill; a deli station; a vegan and vegetarian station and others. The building will offer a gathering space with seating for up to 68, and will also house the central IUP dining offices. The North Dining facility is the third and final phase of the IUP Dining Innovations project that saw renovations to Folger Dining Hall and the Crimson Café that opened in 2014.
