The driver of a dump truck involved in an accident that hurt a pedestrian in White Township in June will have a preliminary hearing today at District Judge George Thachick’s office.
57-year-old Ray Leon Moore of Apollo is going before the judge today on charges of Accidents involving death or personal injury while not properly licensed, driving on a suspended license, not having a required commercial driving license, and failure to secure loads in the vehicle for the accident that happened June 6th in the area of Martin Road and North 9th Street. An affidavit of probable cause states that state police were called out at 1:11 PM for the accident involving a pedestrian and a Ford F-650 Dump Truck. When police interviewed Moore, they found out that he had just delivered a load of clean fill at a neighboring residence when he made a left-hand turn onto Martin Road from the private driveway. When the turn was completed, the tailgate swung open and struck 50-year-old Doyle Henry, who was walking along the road. The crew stopped and tried to help Henry before he was taken to the hospital.
Moore told police that he forgot to secure the tailgate. When troopers ran his name through their databases, they found his CDL license was revoked and his regular driver’s license was suspended for a DUI violation.
Moore’s hearing in front of District Judge Thachick is set for 2:15 this afternoon.
