One person has died in a motor vehicle crash this morning in West Wheatfield Township.
Indiana County Coroner Jerry Overman Jr. identified the young man who passed away in the one vehicle crash as Aaron James Stiffey, Jr. of Bolivar. Overman said in his report that Stiffey was driving South on Route 259 near Robinsion, when his pickup truck crossed the center line and went onto the northbound berm. The truck crossed back to the southbound line and went into the southbound berm and hit a utility pole, and then rolled onto it’s side, partially ejecting Stiffey out of the truck in the process.
Overman said that excessive speed and alcohol were factors in the crash. An Autopsy will not be performed, but toxicology tests are pending. State Police from Indiana also investigated the crash. The Shoemaker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
