D. Alex Dunlap, 89, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at his home.
The son of Elmer and Emma (Laughlin) Dunlap, he was born October 22, 1927 in Blairsville, PA.
Mr. Dunlap was a member of the Hopewell United Methodist Church, served on the Hopewell Cemetery Board and was a former member of the Blairsville Horseman’s Association.
He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Mr. Dunlap was known for his work ethic at St. Clair Cemetery, Greensburg, where he worked for 40 plus years, retiring in 2000. He also had driven truck for Wilbert Vault Co.
He enjoyed being active in the community card club and the Blairsville Grange.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Twila I. (Howard) Dunlap whom he married June 22, 1951; a daughter, Connie (Lloyd) Richless of Pittsburgh; a daughter-in-law, Debra Dunlap of Pittsburgh; two grandsons, Andrew Richless and Kyle Richless; a sister, Susan (Oliver) Cunkelman of Blairsville and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, David H. Dunlap on October 29, 2016; a brother, Donald Dunlap and a sister, Jennie Kellerman.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Sunday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday at Hopewell United Methodist Church, 150 Hopewell Road, Blairsville, PA with Rev. Dawn Krishart officiating.
Interment will be in Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
