Elmer Gromley, Jr., 70 years old, of Mahaffey, PA went home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at his home.
The son of Elmer and Trudell (Bingaman) Gromley, he was born on January 15, 1947 in Glen Campbell, PA.
Elmer was a member of the Church of Christ (Christian) of Cookport. He loved his church family and it was his great pleasure leading and participating in church activities.
He was a graduate of the Purchase Line High School Class of 1964.
Elmer was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served as a Military Police K-9 during Vietnam.
He was employed in the construction and gas industry until his retirement.
Elmer was a Mason, who belonged to the Coalport Lodge No. 574 and a member of the Jaffa Shriners.
He was also a life member of the Glen Campbell American Legion Post 435; a member of the VFW Post #8709 in Mahaffey and a charter member of the Montgomery Township Rod and Gun Club.
Elmer enjoyed hunting and his time spent with all of his hunting friends. He was active in bowling with the Punxsutawney Bowling League in years past. He enjoyed his cat “Miss Kitty” and all his wonderful neighbors in Middletown.
He loved the Lord Jesus Christ and all of his family and friends.
Elmer is survived by three step-children: David (Anita) Small; Katrina (Donald) Clapsaddle and Kathy (Randy) Wright; his grandchildren: Virgil Small (fiancée Kristen); Logan (Nicole) Small; Sara (Uriah) Miller; Emily (Aaron) Frailey; Mandy Turner; Travis and Tyler Clapsaddle; Drew (fiancée Ashley) Wright and Danelle (Dan) Sunseri; great-grandchildren: Isaac; Tim; Adrianna; Sawyer; Ryker; Gabby; Doyle; Jacobe and Skylar and great- great grandchild: Aiden
Mr. Gromley is survived by his siblings: Kathryn Gromley and William (Tracey) Gromley; niece, Angela Gromley and Joy Getch; nephew, Chad (Nalini) Gromley; great-nephew, Andrew Gromley; his great-niece Ava Gromley and several in-laws, step-nieces and nephews.
Elmer was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Cassidy) Small Gromley and his parents.
A memorial service will be held in the near future. The date and time will be determined by his family.
