There’s an interesting gathering happening today at the Kovalchick Complex, as officials of various entities provide input on new concepts for moving people around western Pennsylvania.
Called “Imagine Transportation 2.0: Better Mobility for All in the Greater Pittsburgh Region”, the idea was introduced in Pittsburgh in early March after eighteen months of study involving nearly 1,000 businesses and organizations. The conference today will focus on seven principles and fifty ideas to explore to improve the region’s transportation system and guide regional transportation investments into the future.
The Regional Transportation Alliance of Southwestern Pennsylvania is spearheading the effort. Indiana County Commissioner Rod Ruddock and Chamber of Commerce President Jim Struzzi serve on the Steering Committee for the coalition of ten counties.
There will be a media briefing after the event, at which IUP President Michael Driscoll and Jim Struzzi will be among the speakers. Rod Ruddock and Byron Stauffer of the Indiana COunty Office of Planning and Development will visit Indiana In the Morning at 8:10 this morning to talk about today’s meeting.
