David L. Detwiler, age 58 of Indiana, died Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at his home.
He was born in 1959 in Indiana to Roy “Zack” Detwiler, Sr., and Anna Mary Kinter Detwiler. Dave attended the Penns Manor Area High School.
He was employed as a supervisor for Indiana County Vocational Services for 36 years.
He had resided in Heilwood for many years. He was a member of the Heilwood Sportsman Club where he
served as president for the last 30 plus years. During his tenure as president, he organized and directed the Handicapped Picnic for the past 24 years. He was also a member of the Clymer Slovak Club and the
Northern Cambria Slovak Club. Dave enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by one son – Chad Detwiler, Heilwood; seven sisters and five brothers – Goldie Detwiler, Penn Run; Barb Lute and husband Lloyd, Penn Run; Mary “Peg” Kelly, Penn Run; Elsie “Marie” Findley, Alverda; Ione Gensburger and husband Mike, Alverda; Gerry Galat, Beaver Falls; Zelma Lute and
husband Len, Northern Cambria; Allen Detwiler, Harmony; Frank Detwiler and wife Ruby, Evans City; Jim Detwiler and wife Linda, Cherry Tree; Jay Detwiler, Heilwood; and Bill Detwiler and wife Denise, Butler. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Kathryn “Kay” Pike, Shelocta; and the following in-laws – Jeff Pike and wife Tammy, Shamrock, TX; Deb Orkwis and husband Mark, Indiana; David Pike and wife Kathy, Holidaysburg; Doug Pike and wife Donna, Indiana; Mark Pike and wife Trisha, Harleyville; his girlfriend
Jerelyn Moreno, Indiana, and her son Marcus Martin, Pittsburgh; numerous nieces and nephews; and by his dog Lacy.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, by his wife Kathy Pike Detwiler, the following siblings – Roy, Jr., Russell, Charles, Helen, and Eliene, and his father-in-law Jerry Pike.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a funeral service will be held Friday at 11 A.M. with the Rev. Greg McDonald officiating. Interment will be private.
