Indiana County Court President Judge William Martin has granted defense requests for continuances of Criminal Call proceedings filed on behalf of three homicide suspects.
Martin granted motions to continue Criminal Call scheduled for tomorrow for Matthew McNevin, Charles Cook, and Brady Distefano. The new date for each is September 1st.
McNevin, who’s from Rayne Township, is charged in the fatal shooting of Carlos Recalde-Campos and the wounding of Samantha Riley during the IUPattys event on March 25th in Indiana.
Cook, a drifter from eastern Pennsylvania is charged with killing 76-year-old Myrtle McGill in 1991 at her home along South 6th Street in Indiana. Cook was tracked down in Minnesota last fall, 25 years after the murder. He was extradited to Indiana County in March.
DiStefano is a former IUP student from Johnstown. He’s charged in the strangulation death of his fraternity brother, 20-year-old Caleb Zweig of Rockville, Maryland. The two were involved in a fight on the night of February 3rd in the 800 block of Wayne Avenue in Indiana. Zweig was pronounced dead early the next morning at the Indiana Regional Medical Center.
