An Indiana woman is due for Plea Court today to answer charges in 36 separate criminal filings. 44-year-old Alicia Dianne Jarvie faces 98 charges, including 31 felony charges of forgery, 33 misdemeanor counts of theft by deception, 31 misdemeanor counts of bad checks, and three felony counts of intimidation of a witness.
Jarvie, who is also listed as having lived in Blairsville and Seward, is accused of raided the bank account of an elderly woman from East Wheatfield Township between December 14th and early March. The intimidation charges were for incidents late in March and late in April.
Jarvie was also involved in a criminal case last winter in Blair County. She was a passenger in a vehicle involved in a police chase. The driver, Jonathan Thoma of Seward, allegedly tried to outrun pursuing police, at one point turning around and driving directly at two police cruisers in an attempt to crash into them. After Thoma abandoned the vehicle and tried to escape on foot, police say Jarvie gave them a false ID for him. She pleaded guilty to hindering apprehension and was sentenced to six months probation.
Jury selection for Thoma in the Blair County case is scheduled for August 14th. Jarvie’s Plea Court appearance today is before scheduled before Judge William Martin at 8:30 this morning.
