The White Township Supervisors discussed an on-going issue concerning a property on Elkin Avenue at last night’s meeting.
Elkin Avenue resident Tillie Sisko had complained in the past about a house being torn down across the street from her and being replaced with an asphalt processing and distribution site. The site continues to be a disruption to her life, as there is not only the smell of asphalt and diesel fumes, but a lot of noise as well. Sisko also claims that the value of her property and of neighboring properties is going down due to the presence of the asphalt site.
White Township does not have a zoning code in effect, and according to Township Manager Milt Lady, the company that owns the site is doing everything by the book, so there was nothing legally that the township could do to help Sisko. It was suggested by Township Supervisor Eugene Gemmell that Sisko and her neighbors team up to purchase the property and convert it into a park. The Township Supervisors will continue to monitor the situation.
In other business, Lady reminded residents that they can still submit flood reports for those affected by the floods over the last summer. Lady added that three flood reports will be made to the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency.
