John C. Black, 72, of Indiana, passed away Sunday, July 23, 2017, at his residence.
A son of the late Lawrence Black and Rosetta Lydic Black Stiffler, he was born July 7, 1945, in Indiana.
Mr. Black had been employed at Eagle Air and was the maintenance manager at the former Regency Mall. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, NASCAR, the Steelers and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Elva Dolly Schreckengost Black, of Indiana; 10 children: Gregory Black and wife Tammy, of Lucernemines; John C. Black, Jr., of Indiana; Beth Ann Lawson and husband Matt, of Indiana; Stacey Sleaman and husband Joe, of Homer City; Jeff Black, of Homer City; Kenny Stuck and wife Lynn, of Palatka, FL; Keith Stuck, of York; Karan Elliott and husband Jerry, of York; Emily Hawk and fiancé Tom McCarthy, of Indiana; Craig Stuck and companion Patrina, of Shelocta; a half-brother, Eugene Stiffler and wife Cheryl, of Indiana; 23 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; a special nephew, Duane Schreckengost and wife Mae, of North Carolina; numerous other nieces and nephews; and a special neighbor, James McKendrick.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Virgil Black; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Stuck.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Robinson-Lytle, Inc., where a funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Tom Spiker officiating.
