Geneva Marie “Dolly Shannon, 80, Homer City, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 22, 2017. Born September 19, 1936 in Coy. She is the daughter of the late Mike and Francis (Johnstone) Varholick. Geneva Graduated from Laura Lamar High School in 1954. After graduation she worked at Syntron in Homer City for a couple of years. On August 12, 1960 she married Thomas Theodore Shannon and they raised four children. Geneva spent many years babysitting her grandchildren and also being an overnight caretaker for several sick and elderly friends. Geneva enjoyed going to church, auctions, and flea markets. She also enjoyed quilting, prevention magazine, shopping, and talking with people. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Geneva had attended the Covenant Way Church. She is survived by her husband Thomas; Children; Tom, Jr.; Terri (Ray) James; Brenda (Joel) Biconik and Brian Shannon. Grandchildren Nicole Franco, Briana James, Matthew James, Brody Shannon, and Bayly Shannon. Great grandson Luke James. Sisters Pauletta Fedinik and Helen Tedeski. Brother Michael Varholick. Several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two infant sisters and grandson Jacob Thomas Shannon. The family would like to thank Geneva’s caregivers Kelly and Lauren. Family and friends will be received Tuesday, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the C. Frederick Bowser, Homer City, where funeral services will be held at 11:00, Pastors Scot Pifer officiating. Interment to follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
