Pennsylvania’s state-wide unemployment rate held steady over the month of June.
The State Department of Labor and Industry has released their unemployment situation report for June of this year, and it showed that unemployment levels remained at 5.0 % That’s still higher than the national unemployment rate at 4.4%, which increased one-tenth of a percentage point from the month of May. Over the last year, both unemployment rates declined by one half of a percent.
The civilian labor workforce was down by 1,000 to 6,475,000. Resident employment decreased by 3,000 while the unemployment count rose by 2,000. The non-farm job total went up by 6,000 jobs to 5,936,400 jobs in the month of June, with the largest movement was a decline in 6,000 in education and health services. That was counter-acted by record-highs in business services, which saw an increase of 4900 jobs, and hospitality, which went up 4600.
