UPDATE: Reports from firefighters on scene say the house, which was inhabited by the McConnell family was a total loss. They also believe that the cause may have been electrical in nature. The fire reignited twice during the morning, as there was still combustible material at the scene and there were several cave-ins to bring more material down.
Little information is available so far on a fire last night at an address along Newport Road in Conemaugh Township.
Reports indicate that it was a home, and that it was fully involved when firefighters arrived. The first call was received at eight minutes before midnight, and eventually nine fire companies responded, with seven more placed on standby. The initial call was for the Blairsville, Tunnelton Saltsburg, Coal Run, Altman, and Iselin fire companies, with Slickville, Kiski Township, Blacklick, and Bell Township dispatched as the firefighting operations continued. Some were called for tanker assist, some for manpower.
