And the winner of the “Healthiest Employer Challenge” is…the Reschini Group. The Indiana insurance company yesterday won the first annual competition to determine the fittest company, sponsored by the Indiana County Chamber of Commerce and the Indiana Regional Medical Center. The Reschini Group earns the Healthiest Employer trophy cup, which will be awarded each year (and which needs a snazzier name).
The eight-week challenge featured competition in a variety of categories, including most steps walked, most weight lost, and best blood pressure. The Chamber of Commerce, Quinntech, S&T Bank, and Indiana First Bank rounded out the top five.
Since May 1st, the average Reschini Group employee walked an average of 608,179 steps per person and lost five pounds. Colleen Mazey of the Reschini Group lost the most weight and Brenda King of Quinntech walked the most steps.
The Healthiest Employer Challenge was conceived this spring after health rankings showed Indiana County as only the 49th healthiest county in Pennsylvania. In addition to the challenge, IRMC held free “Lunch and Learn” sessions for each participating business.
