Adam Frazier’s RBI single in the bottom of the ninth lifted the Pirates to a walk-off win over the Cardinals 4-3. Frazier scored Jordy Mercer, who had tied the game with an RBI double. Max Moroff hit his first Major League homer run for the Bucs. Wade LeBlanc was the winning pitcher.
The Pirates continue their seven-game homestand with a four-game set against the first-place Brewers tonight at PNC Park. The Bucs are seven games behind in the NL Central. Chad Kuhl gets the start on the mound for Pittsburgh against Milwaukee’s Brent Suter.
Starling Marte is set to make his long awaited return to the Pirates’ lineup after serving an 80-game suspension by Major League Baseball for using performance-enhancing drugs. He was 3-for-5 with a double for Triple-A Indianapolis yesterday.
