Marion Center advanced in the Senior American Legion D2 Sub-Regional, defeating Curwensville twice by identical 10-0 score. Eric Stitt and Dylan Goss both tossed shutouts.
Marion Center will now play Lilly, from Cambria County, tonight at 7 PM at First Commonwealth Bank Field in Homer City. Lilly defeated Jeannette and Young Township in another western sub-regional that was played at Somerset.
The field is set for this weekend’s Youth Legion regional tournament at First Commonwealth Field. Three of the eight teams – Plum, Monroeville, and Warren – will come to Homer City for the first time. The three local teams will be the host team, S.W. Jack Drillers of Indiana, plus Armstrong and Brookville Kelly Chrysler. Connellsville returns from Fayette County as champ of the Somerset/Fayette League and South County from Erie returns. The action gets underway on Saturday.
