The heavy rains early this morning continue to plague some areas of central Indiana county.
While it was just reported by Indiana Borough Public Works Director Dave Fairman that all borough roads have reopened, there may still be some debris on those roads, so you are asked to be careful. Also, street sweepers may be out, causing some traffic slowdowns.
We have heard of some problems in the Clymer area, including one road seeing a lot of debris this morning. Jeff Gromley of the Clymer Fire Department said that while Two Lick creek has not gone over it’s banks, Sixth street from Franklin to Clymer Road in the vicinity of the water tower is still blocked due to debris. Gromley said the road may be reopened by noon at the earliest.
Basement pumping details have been going on for a majority of the morning for many fire crews. Molly Kolesar of the Indiana Fire Association was one of the responders to a basement pumping call on South 7th Street around 7:00 this morning and she said that Indiana Fire Association alone had 40 basement pumping calls, with 10 of those calls dealing with at least three feet of water. She said it’s really frustrating for the residents that have to go through this a second time.
Indiana County’s Emergency Management Agency reminds everyone that if they want to report a flooded basement, they can still call 911 to get assistance. However if you wish to report Flood Damage, you need to call your township or borough office to start the process. Indiana Borough has already activated their SwiftReach automated call system to remind borough residents to fill out flood damage reports.
