Heavy thunderstorms overnight have caused some major problems across Indiana County, especially in Indiana Borough and White Township.
Indiana, Blairsville, and Saltsburg firefighters were dispatched at 3:46 AM for a water rescue along Old Route 119 South in White Township. Indiana Fire Association Assistant Chief Tom Moreau says a man was parked at the Hoodlebug Trail parking lot near the Divine Destiny Church in White Township, and was on top of his car when firefighters arrived.
Streets and basements have been flooded across the county. Here in Indiana, heavy rains caused large amounts of water in the typical areas, including Wayne Avenue and North 4th Street. Just before 3 AM, Indiana firefighters were summoned three times within minutes for basement pumping details on Wayne Avenue, Lowry Avenue, and South 7th Street. They were also dispatched about 45 minutes later for a gas leak on Grant Street.
Clymer firefighters were called for a pumping detail on Morris Street and Commodore was dispatched for a tree down with utility lines across Railroad Street in Green Township.
A flash flood warning has been extended to 8:45 AM. The National Weather Service reported up to three and a half inches of rain had fallen over drainage basins that feed Blacklick Creek, with the danger of flooding in Blairsville, Black Lick, Saltsburg, and Armagh
