The delays and congestion today on Route 119 north of Indiana in Rayne Township will last into the late evening, so an alternate route might serve you better.
PennDOT says the installation of a box culvert in the Route 119 Grove Chapel Climbing Lane Project construction zone will take all day, and drivers should be prepared to stop…and expect to sit there a while. Congestion will be heavy as flaggers control the flow of traffic over one lane of the highway, which is the major artery out of Indiana northward.
The $14.6 million project involves construction of a truck climbing lane, the realignment of the dangerous curves near the top of the hill, and the installation of left turn lanes. Covering three construction seasons, it is not expected to be completed before the end of November of next year.
