After taking 3 of 4 from the Phillies, the Pirates headed to the friendly confines of Wrigley Field and the offense sputtered against the Cubs as they lost 6-1 on Friday afternoon.
Chicago’s first run came in the third inning off a ball hit by Kris Bryant and deflected by Josh Harrison. That scored Ben Zorbist. Anthony Rizzo hit a 2-run homer to extentd the lead to 3-0. Bryant would hit a solo home run in the 6th to make it 4-0 Cubs. The Pirates only run came during the top of the seventh as Josh Bell hit an RBI single. Bryant would hit his second homer of the day in the bottom of the 8th, this time a two-run shot that scored Wilson Contreras.
Trevor Williams took the loss, lasting 3 and 2/3rds innings, allowing 3 runs on six hits and striking out three.
