Two Canadian networks, TSN and Sportsnet, are reporting that Penguins assistant Rick Tocchet is set to become the new head coach of the Arizona Coyotes, replacing Dave Tippett, who was fired last month. Tocchet won a Stanley Cup as a Penguins player in 1992 and has been on the bench in Pittsburgh since 2014, earning two more Stanley Cups. He was the head coach at Tampa Bay from 2008 to 2010.
The Penguins yesterday signed 22-year-old Adam Johnson, a center out of Minnesota-Duluth who scored 18 goals and had 19 assists in his sophomore season last year. He was a top player at the Pens’ Prospect Camp last week.
