A Homer City woman set to go through a non-jury trial pleaded guilty to lesser charges on Wednesday in Indiana County Court.
Heather Tyger of Homer City was set to face a non-jury trial on charges of endangering the welfare of children, two counts of DUI, and three summary traffic violations, but on Wednesday, she announced that she would plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge of recklessly endangering another person. The remaining charges were not prosecuted. Her case was an involved one as there were questions on her psychological state and whether or not she was mentally competent to stand trial. After the request for the defense to employ a psychologist to evaluate her, President Judge William Martin also asked questions of her in court and determined she was fit to stand trial.
She was sentenced on Wednesday to six months probation and ordered to pay a $500 fine and over $700 in court costs.
