Last month, Pennsylvanians paid off tax debts with forgiveness on several fees. Another amnesty program is now underway concerning those who didn’t pay the toll on the PA turnpike.
The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission has announced that next month, strict laws concerning overdue toll violations will go into effect. Drivers with overdue toll violations and invoices due could risk having their vehicle registrations suspended if they don’t make good on their debt. Motorists have from now until August 4th to pay off their debts before the law goes into effect. Motorists with toll violations newer than sixty days old can pay off the outstanding toll amount with all other fees forgiven. Anything older than sixty days, and the outstanding toll along with a portion of the fees will need to be paid.
Letters have been sent to those who could face suspension under Act 165, which went into effect last fall. Turnpike scofflaws with six or more outstanding toll invoices or violations, or unpaid tolls and fees totaling more than $500, would be at risk of having their registration suspended until their toll fees are paid up.
