Aaron Nola pitched seven strong innings, as the Phillies topped the Pirates last night, 4-0, in Philadelphia.
Nola allowed just four hits and struck out eight.
Ivan Nova took the loss giving up four runs and seven hits in six innings.
The series continues with afternoon holiday baseball today at 4:05 p.m. Jameson Taillon gets the start for the Bucs.

In other Pirates news, Andrew McCutchen has been named the National League Player of the Month. Cutch hit .411 with six homers and 23 RBI in 26 games during June.
Also, Francisco Cervelli was activated from the disabled list and saw action last night. Pitcher Edgar Santana was optioned to AAA Indianapolis.
