Frances Margaret Armstrong, 86, of Ernest went to her heavenly home on Friday, June 30, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her loving children.
She was born April 17, 1931 in Waterman to Leo Martin and Mary Ellen (Shank) Yankuskie. She was a 1949 graduate of Laura Lamar High School in Homer City. On October 7, 1950, she married George Edward (Eddie) Armstrong and together they raised 4 children.
Frances was a dedicated and hard worker all her life. Aside from raising four children, in the past, she was employed at Campus Sportswear and Troutman’s Department Store. For the past 33 years she served as a tip-staff for the judges of Indiana County, a job she truly loved and continued until 7 seeks before her death. She will be remembered for her dedication and spunkiness at the courthouse.
She was a faithful servant to the parishioners of the Ernest Bible Church for the past 65 years having served as Sunday School teacher, Bible School teacher, church choir, and church secretary for the past 30 years. Her strong faith gave her the assurance that one day she would reunite with her loving husband, George, in their heavenly home.
Earlier in her life, she played on Indiana County Women’s Softball leagues and was a member of the Sweet Adelines.
She enjoyed reading, gardening, playing bingo and preparing her tradition meals for the holidays. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren and meeting her great-grandchildren who called her Big Grandma.
Frances is survived by her children: Sandra L (Thomas) Bernard of Indiana, James E. (Deborah) Armstrong of Marion Center, Michael G. (Carol) Armstrong of Creekside, and Mitchell A. (Hutoca) Armstrong of Ernest; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
