Independence Day Weekend means that there will be a lot of fireworks going off at night, and tonight will be no exception as the Coral-Graceton Volunteer Fire Company will hold their annual Independence Day Celebration today at the fire department grounds off Route 119 in Coral.
Justin Smyers with the fire department said that this event has grown since it started with a local man providing the community with a few fireworks. Since then, it has grown to one of the largest Independence Day fireworks shows in the county.
The festival starts at 3:00 PM today with a car cruise. There will be amusements for the kids available, including a bounce house and several games. There will also be a contest going on where the firefighter that raises the most money that day gets a pie in the face. It’s $1 a ticket for that fundraiser. Bands will include Hiram and the Walkers from 3-6, followed by DJ Jackie B until 6:30 and then Hired Hands will perform for the balance of the evening. Their performance will be interrupted at 9:45 for the fireworks show from Starfire.
People are advised to arrive early to get the best seat for the fireworks at the fire department grounds. The event benefits the Coral-Graceton fire department.
