An Indiana man was killed early this morning when his motorcycle crashed into a fallen tree that was across Route 259 in West Wheatfield Township.
Indiana County Coroner Jerry Overman Jr. pronounced 42-year-old Chad Neese of Shaffer Road in White Township dead at the scene at 5:07 AM. Overman says Neese was on his way from work in the Brush Valley area when he came upon the tree, which was slightly elevated as it lay across the road. Another motorist had hit the same tree while traveling northbound and tried to warn Neese as he approached southbound in the Heshbon area near Mount Tabor Road. The other driver has not been publicly identified.
Neese was wearing a helmet, but died from blunt force trauma to the head. State police have not yet issued a report on the accident.
