The trial of Michael Eades continued this morning in Indiana County Court. Eades is charged with criminal homicide, theft and conspiracy to both of those charges in the death of Tyron Howard at his Blairsville apartment in September of 2014.
The session focused mainly on the physical evidence found at the scene, including the extension cords that were used to bind the hands and feet of Howard before he was killed. DNA evidence from the cords showed that the DNA of Howard and co-defendant DeAndre Jones, Jr. was present, but as Eades’ attorney Robert Manzi pointed out, the DNA of his client was not present. Dougherty also entered into evidence a forensic pathology report from ForensicDX in Windber and the coroner’s report from Jerry Overman, Jr. that showed that Howard died from multiple “sharp-force injuries” in the back, torso, neck and head that came from a sword.
Also called to testify this morning was Eades’ wife, Kristy, who testified that on the night of the murder, she called Michael Eades 27 times to see if he was at home, and had also called co-defendant Kevin King’s phone five times. She had been working at a clinic in State College when the alleged murder took place.
Testimony will continue this afternoon.
