The state Health Department yesterday awarded permits to twelve companies to grow marijuana for medicinal purposes, and the recipients include AGRiMED, the company that has applied for a dispensary permit here in Indiana County.
The permits announced yesterday are for the awardees to grow the marijuana. AGRiMED will do so on a 61-acre farm in Greene County, where the company is based. The Health Department will announce the names of 27 dispensary winners by the end of next week.
AGRiMED did its homework. The company scored the highest among the twelve awardees on its application, which rated the applicants on more than two dozen factors. AGRiMED scored 790.44 out of a possible 1,000. All of the award recipients have been given six months to be operational.
