Indiana Borough Council discussed some problems with the community center building at last night’s special Indiana Borough Council meeting.
It was announced that things may be a bit uncomfortable on the second floor this summer at the Indiana Free Library, as the second floor air conditioning system has broken down, and the system in place is so old, replacement parts are not available and can’t be fabricated. Since the air conditioning system will be part of the upcoming library improvement project, it can’t be worked on at this time, so Borough Manager Bradley Gotshall said they will use some alternative plans to keep things cool, including prying open the second floor windows and putting temporary air conditioning and fan units in them to regulate the temperature.
In other business, council approved two bids to help improve the borough’s parking garage. The upgrades will include improvements to the lighting system in the garage, and improvements to the payment systems and gates. The system improvements went to PSX Group of Pittsburgh for a bid of $208,856 over a seven year period, and the garage lighting will be handled by Paragon Electric of Penn Run at a cost of $46,800.
