With the Michael Eades murder trial ready to begin, President Judge William Martin yesterday ordered that the two principle witnesses against him, co-defendants Stanley Boynton and Kevin King, be brought from the Cambria County Prison to the Indiana County courthouse to deliver their testimony today.
Eades, Boynton, King, and DeAndre Jones are accused of killing 37-year-old Tyron Howard at Howard’s Blairsville apartment in September of 2014. Prosecutors say Eades was the leader of the four men and ordered the murder because he felt Howard was withholding drug money Eades felt belonged to him. Eades reportedly told a fellow inmate in Blair County that he had a million-dollar drug business in Indiana County but that he’d “had to kill” his partner because he was stealing his money.
At a preliminary hearing last year, Kevin King testified that Eades ordered him to stab Howard with a sword, which he did – twice – and then Eades grabbed the sword and started stabbing Howard too. King and Eades are stepbrothers.
Boynton also testified at the hearing, describing the events on the night of the killing, and saying he didn’t expect the violence and was shocked at what happened.
Both King and Boynton have been offered reduced charges in exchange for their testimony. They are due in Plea Court on Friday.
