A Commodore woman has been charged with public drunkenness after police say she showed up intoxicated at the scene of Saturday’s homicide in Green Township.
32-year-old Beverly Stewart arrived at the scene of the crime at about 6:40 AM. Police say she was disruptive and so they arrested her.
27-year-old James Eugene Lantz is charged with shooting to death his neighbor, 23-year-old Derrick Michael Davis, shortly before 1 AM Saturday in front of the Davis home on Lovejoy Road. Police say the two had argued and fought before Lantz got a firearm – reportedly a shotgun- and shot Davis once in the chest. Indiana County Coroner Jerry Overman Jr. pronounced Davis dead at the scene at 2:14 AM. Lantz had fled the scene on foot, but returned at 10:40 AM and was taken into custody without incident. He’s being held without bond in the Indiana County Jail on a general charge of criminal homicide.
