No one was injured in a stubborn fire in Seward yesterday, with six fire companies called to the scene.
The cause of the blaze at the two-story wood-frame home on Hedges Street has not been established, but it started in the kitchen and spread through the walls to the second floor. In addition to the fire damage, there was substantial smoker and water damage. The fire has been ruled accidental. There were people inside but they got out safely. The homeowner has not been publicly identified.
Firefighters from Seward, New Florence, Fairfield, Clyde, Armagh, and Nanty Glo responded to the scene just after 7 AM.
