There are a number of issues on area roadways this week, including a road closure today in White Township.
Saint Clair Road will be closed between 8 AM and 4 PM today for the installation of stormwater crossover pipes. Local traffic will be permitted, but there will be no through traffic. The alternate route will be Fulton Run Road. Through traffic from Martin Road will be limited to one-thousand feet.
Also beginning today, traffic restrictions begin for drilling work scheduled on several streets in Indiana Borough. Today, Philadelphia Street near 11th Street will be restricted to one lane and both north and South 11th Street will be closed to through traffic.
Tomorrow, there will be temporary closures on both North and South 11th Street, and on Wednesday, Cherry Avenue will be closed. On Thursday, crews are tentatively scheduled to restrict traffic to one lane on Philadelphia Street between 3rd and 4th streets after 7 PM, and on Friday, there will be possible shoulder restriction on Philadelphia Street.
Another bridge project gets underway today in the Plumville area, in South Mahoning Township. Route 954 will close starting today between Baker Road and Route 85. The bridge over the North Branch of Plum Creek will be replaced with a box culvert. The detour for the $449,000 project will use Route 85 and Five Points Road, with Route 954 scheduled to re-open in mid-August and the completion of the new bridge anticipated in November.
Finally, Center Township residents will see the Bethel Church Road bridge replacement project will get into full swing. Because of a delay in the delivery of one of the culverts for the project, there will be more work done over the length of the project. The construction schedule has changed so that Bethel Church Road from Route 286 to Pearce Road will start tomorrow. Expect some heavy equipment on the road today as crews get ready for the project.
