The Indiana Area School Board’s Buildings & Grounds Committee is scheduled to meet tonight in advance of the full school board’s scheduled meeting, and in the words of one of this spring’s Primary election winners, “something big could be up”. That said, there is another Buildings & Grounds Committee meeting next Monday, so whatever “big” is happening might not be until then.
Being that it’s the Buildings & Grounds Committee and considering the results of the election, in which only candidates who are opposed to the $32.2 million elementary school project won the four nominations from each party, it’s natural to believe that will be the topic. In the past, board members in favor of the project have said they will push forward with it no matter the outcome of the election, but there may not be enough time to get it started before a new board could shoot it down.
During the scheduled board meeting, the board will consider an item calling on McKissick & Associates to provide the district with all documents related to the building projects including drawings and specifications, all bid package documents as well as any other pertinent work that have been paid for. It asks for the documents before next Monday’s committee meeting.
The agenda tonight also includes the employment of seven new teachers, six of them at elementary schools. There are also coaching positions, senior high school dramatics department positions, and athletic ticket prices to be set, along with some financial moves.
