The Pittsburgh Pirates broke a four-game losing streak with a 7-6 win over the Miami Marlins Saturday afternoon at PNC Park.
The Marlins jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after the first inning, but Andrew McCutchen had an RBI Double in the second and Josh Bell hit an RBI Fly-out followed by McCutchen’s second RBI Double to score David Freese in the third to tie it up. Two homers in the 4th put the Marlins ahead again, but the Pirates kept pace as Jose Osuna grounded out on a double play, but not before Elias Diaz scored. Miami extended the gap to two runs again on an RBI double by J.T. Realmuto. The Pirates completed the comeback in the bottom of the seventh, as Jordy Mercer hit an RBI triple to score McCutchen and Diaz. And Mercer brought the winning run home as John Jaso hit a book-rule double, all in the bottom of the 7th.
The Pirates and Marlins play this afternoon and you can hear it starting at 12:35 on AM 1160WCCS and 101.1 FM.
