The State House yesterday unanimously passed Majority Leader Dave Reed’s bill to rename the Diamondville Bridge in honor of a Vietnam War veteran who passed away last year at the age of 70.
The bridge would be designated the Sgt. Robert Eugene Goodlin Memorial Bridge. Goodlin grew up in Commodore and was a graduate of Purchase Line High School. In Vietnam, he served with Company B, 2nd Battalion, 50th Infantry, 2nd Armored Division and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal, with two bronze service stars.
After his death last May, both the Clymer American Legion Post 222 and the Cherryhill Township supervisors suggested the name change for the bridge.
Reed’s bill now moves to the Senate for consideration.
