State police have filed charges against four people in two alleged swipe-and-swap schemes at the White Township Walmart store.
The first incident occurred April 16th. Police say 25-year-old Heather Naomi Smith of Indiana stole items from the store and 32-year-old Frank Gardner, who is also from Indiana, returned them for a Walmart gift card in the amount of $203.94.
Both Smith and Gardner have had numerous theft cases in the Indiana County courts in recent months. Smith has five cases currently pending.
The second incident happened April 22nd and involved two Homer City residents, 51-year-old Rebecca O’Neil and 30-year-old Melissa Dustin. Police say O’Neill put some camping items in her shopping cart and pushed the cart past the point of sale area, where Dustin then took it to the service desk and returned the items for a gift card worth $221.20.
