The Homer-Center Wildcats’ baseball season ended Monday with a 6-1 loss to Meyersdale in the first round of the PIAA 1A playoffs at Somerset High School, as heard on AM 1160 WCCS and 101.1 FM.
Sophomore Nathaniel Davis surrendered all six runs and was the losing pitcher. He pitched into the fourth inning, striking out three and walking three.
Bryce Kretchman was the winning pitcher, striking out three.
Meyersdale (18-6), the District 5 champion, scored three runs in the second inning and three more in the fourth. Devin Kretchman drove in all three runs in the second inning with his first home run of the season.
Homer-Center (18-6), the District 6 runner-up, outhit Meyersdale, 6-5, and did not commit an error. The Wildcats left seven runners on base. Homer-Center scored its only run on a wild pitch in the seventh inning.
