The Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission has awarded almost $2 million in grants to 141 museums and official county historical societies from 57 Pennsylvania counties, including funds directed to Indiana County.
The grants are for a museum’s general operations or for historical societies that are not supported by other state agencies. All official county historical societies receive a $4,000 minimum grant, which is the amount awarded to the Historical and Genealogical Society of Indiana County.
The Jefferson County Historical Society and Punxsutawney Weather Discovery Center each were also awarded $4,000 grants.
